Dan's Bar & Grill

Three Generations of FOOD, FUN & SPIRITS!

Dan & Jean
Dan's Bar was established in 1960 by Dan and Jean Hartung. They moved their family to New Trier, where Dan's quickly became a favorite local watering hole, a place for FRIENDS and SPORTS TEAMS to gather after a long day or a great game! In 1975, they added food into the mix, serving a staple of burgers and steaks. It was then that Dan's Bar became Dan's Bar & Grill!

Danette
When it came time for Dan & Jean to step back a bit, their daughter, Danette, took over the reigns as the manager of Dan's. Without missing a beat, she's known for providing the same level of excellent service as her parents, and remains committed to making Dan's a great place for FRIENDS and FAMILY to gather!

Danielle
In 2013, the third generation was welcomed into the fold. After completing CULINARY SCHOOL at Kendall College, Danette's daughter, Danielle Durow,  joined Dan's as the Head Chef and Kitchen Manager. She immediately gained a loyal following with her famous Saturday Night Specials as well as her unique takes on classic food. Prior to attending Kendall, Danielle attended Boston College where she majored in marketing, and was a FOUR YEAR LETTER WINNER on the women's hockey team.

About Garth's Garage

The OUTDOOR PATIO at Dan's has become so much a part of the fabric of the establishment, that it's hard to believe it hasn't been there from the beginning! Added in 2010, you'll find people out there whenever the weather reasonably [and sometimes unreasonably] permits.

GARTH'S GARAGE, the OUTDOOR BAR that serves the patio, is named after our dear friend, Garth Truax, it was his idea to start the project, but sadly, he passed away before its completion. It was only fitting that this special place was named after him, as no one loved a gathering of good friends in great weather more than he did.

About New Trier

New Trier MN.jpg

You've all seen this scene in a movie; a customer from out of town walks into a small town bar, and everyone stops, looks up, and stares at them, immediately suspect of the city slicker on their turf. Well, that's not what you'll find in New Trier, and particularly at Dan's Bar and Grill. Strangers are simply friends we haven't met yet.

The folks around here are hard working and friendly, and we're pretty sure they will be one of the reasons you'll keep coming back! Oh sure... you might still get a funny look from the locals, it will be one of puzzlement, as they'll be wondering what in the heck took you so long to get here!
